UAE Business Compliance 2026

The tax deadlines, eInvoicing phases, digital labour services and Sharjah licensing checks businesses should put on one calendar.

Immediate deadline: UAE Corporate Tax taxpayers with a financial year ending 31 December 2025 must file the return and pay any tax due by 30 September 2026. The FTA says Small Business Relief users still submit a simplified return. Read the FTA notice.

1. Corporate Tax: close the 2025 file

Confirm the tax period, finish bookkeeping and reconciliations, review related-party and owner transactions, make any Small Business Relief election correctly, and arrange payment before the filing deadline. The FTA states that eligible resident persons can elect Small Business Relief where revenue is no more than AED 3 million in the current and all previous relevant tax periods; exclusions apply, including Qualifying Free Zone Persons and certain multinational groups.

If a first registration was late, check the FTA penalty-waiver conditions. An eligible person may obtain a waiver when the first return or annual declaration is filed within seven months from the end of the first tax period or financial year. Check the official waiver conditions.

2. UAE eInvoicing: prepare structured data

The UAE eInvoicing programme is a structured electronic exchange and reporting system. A PDF, scan, image or ordinary emailed invoice is not, by itself, an eInvoice. Businesses should review their accounting system, customer and supplier master data, tax fields and integration plan with an Accredited Service Provider (ASP).

3. VAT: monitor the threshold continuously

Mandatory VAT registration generally applies when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 over the previous 12 months or are expected to exceed it in the next 30 days. Voluntary registration is available from AED 187,500, subject to the FTA rules. Keep a rolling monthly threshold check rather than waiting for year-end. FTA VAT registration guidance.

4. Employees: Work Bundle, WPS and expiries

MOHRE's Work Bundle integrates supported onboarding, renewal and cancellation steps through one digital journey using UAE PASS. Employers should keep establishment records, quota, work permits, contracts, residence and ID stages aligned, and pay eligible employees through WPS on schedule. Official MOHRE Work Bundle overview.

5. Sharjah licences: verify before filing

SEDD provides online licence issuance, renewal, amendment, permit and enquiry services. Use the official trade-name availability enquiry before branding, and confirm the document and external-approval list for the selected activity and legal form.
